MAJ Lucretia Portwine
Operations Officer, Assistant Professor of Military Science Military Science - ROTC- Biography
MAJ Lucretia Portwine is originally from Hinesville, Georgia. She moved to Hampton, GA in 2003 after graduating high school, enrolling into Clayton State University. Although she began her college journey at Clayton State she transferred and graduated in 2009 with her undergraduate from Ashford University with a degree in Social Science. She graduated with a Master of Arts in Procurement and Acquisitions Management from Webster University in 2019.
She attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia and commissioned in 2011. MAJ Portwine was branched Ordnance, attending the Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Lee, Virginia. She is now branched Logistics after attending Captains Career Course in 2017.
MAJ Portwine reported to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Fury Brigade), 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 2011 where she served as a Maintenance Control Officer, Distribution Platoon Leader and then Company Executive Officer. During her service with Fury Brigade, MAJ Portwine deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Upon the disbandment of Fury Brigade, MAJ Portwine transferred to 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Devil Brigade), 82nd Airborne Division where she served as a Senior Rated Jumpmaster, Company Executive Officer and took command of Bravo Company, 307th Brigade Support Battalion. MAJ Portwine conducted several Combat Training Center (CTC) rotations while in command to include two Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) rotations and two Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) Swift Response Exercises conducted in Hohenfels, Germany.
After command, MAJ Portwine reported to JRTC, Fort Polk, Louisiana and served as an Observer, Coach/Trainer (OCT) from 2017-2019. This role involved leadership training, management of personnel and strategic decision making within military context.
MAJ Portwine awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal (Two Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (Two Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (One Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Mobilization Medal, NATO Medal, Parachutists Badge, Senior Parachutists Badge.
MAJ Portwine joined Panther Battalion in Summer 2019, left July 2022 to deploy to Kuwait and returned July 2023 to work with the Panther Battalion.
